It is necessary to have all of your important documents together (preferably in a safe). That way, in an emergency, you can grab them and go and not have to look for them all over the house. An expanding file folder with several pockets will help to keep them organized. First, some general papers and information to be kept is as follows:
1. Cash. You pick how much. Keep the bills small (1's, 5's and 10's).
2. Backup CD of all of your computers.
3. CD, DVD, or list of all or most of your belongings in the house. We put together a CD with pictures.
4. Marriage Certificate
5. Picture of the family - keep this updated. (Individual pictures work also.)
6. "Deed of Release" for and previous homes sold.
7. Deed on current home.
8. Trust Information.
9. Any important medical information
10. A list of all companies you pay money to and their information (ie. credit cards, home, vehicles, phones, electric, etc.) This should include company name, address, phone, credit card numbers or account numbers, passwords, etc.
Each person in the family should have these:
1. Original Birth Certificate
2. Original Social Security Card
3. Original Certificate of Blessing
4. Original Certificate of Baptism & Confirmation
5. Original Certificate of Graduation (school and seminary)
6. Original Certificate for Priesthood advancements
7. Original Patriarchal Blessings
