Utility Shut Off

There may be a time that you will need to shut off your water, electricity or gas. Locate the main electric fuse box, water service main and natural gas main. Teach all responsible family members how and when to turn these utilities off. Remember, turn off the utilities only if you suspect the lines are damaged or if you are instructed to do so. If you turn the gas off, you will need a professional to turn it back on.

How To Shut Off Gas:
* The main shut-off valve is located next to the meter on the inlet pipe.
* Use a wrench and give it a quarter turn in either direction so that it runs crosswise on the pipe. This is the closed position.

How To Shut Off Water Main:
* The main water shut-off valve is located where water enters the house. Label for quick identification. The main shut-off valve can also be found in a concrete box in or near the sidewalk (street).

How To Shut Off Electricity:
* Examine your circuit breaker or fuse box and be certain you know where and how to shut off electricity in case of an emergency.
